commitment

So, I know I've been bad about keeping this blog updated...
I'd like to say it's because I've just been so busy that I haven't had the time, but that isn't completely true.
Business has surely seen a big upturn. I've been getting a lot of extra work from friends, and my own booking have been picking up as well. The last few months have seen me busier than I was at this time last year, and the rest of the summer is already shaping up to be a good one.
I'm exploring different venues to try and stretch into... talking with a few florists and some bridal shops...
Trade shows are something that have captured my interest lately also... I'm looking into how to get into that market.
Health has become a concern as well, I've let myself get too far out of shape. Last week I was at the heaviest I've ever been, and it was kind of a wake up call for me.
The last 8 months has seen a huge improvement in my diet, Kathy and I had been eating better, and doing a lot of grilling or cooking at home to try and avoid eating out so much. I've been more active that usual as well, not justt in performing, but in day to day life.... but still I'd gained weight.
I've spoken with a professional photographer about having some promotional pictures taken... trying to update and upgrade the image of the website and the image that I present as a whole.
I would like to get rid of that freshman 15 that I developed (to be honest, it's more like a freshman 40) and would prefer to only have the one chin when pictures are taken.
Wii Fit has reentered the house, a welcome addition. I must admit that my first full session nearly killed me.
That little white plank can be a brutal task master.
I was happy to discover after the torture had ended that my wii fit age was 20 years old... a full 6 years younger than me. this was encouraging... but I fear it may have been more due to my ninja like balance and critical thinking skills more so than physical endurance or strength of body.
None the less, I try to give at least half an hour of my day to this horrid machine.. and hope to see positive results.
My next couple weeks will see me getting outside in the sun and weather quite a bit.
I will be entertaining at Diamond Ohio's Palmyra Bicentennial Celebrations and Palmyra Park Grand Opening. Kent's 4th of July celebration, and Donato's in Hudson will have me up there for Hudson's Fireworks display (that takes place on the 2nd) as well as having quite a few of other bookings build around the end of this month and the beginning of the next.

I know, I know....

So yeah.... I haven't done a great job of keeping up with the blog lately.
It may be because I don't think anyone is reading it, but I know that it's largely to do with my being lazy now that I'm on summer break.
I've been doing more performing, I've got some wonderful friends that have been bringing me in on some great events.
Today I took the time to sit down and update the website a little (www.magicmot.com) and I filmed a few more youtube instructional videos yesterday that I posted last night.
Here is a link to one.

I hope that I can do better in the future with keeping everything up to date.

Harry Anderson Magic Act

Harry Anderson is one of my top 3 favorite performers... in fact, he's at the top of the list.
Here is a link to one of my favorite performances of his.
Every once in a while I watch this video, then try to convince Kathy to let me teach her the rope escape.
Some day I would like to find myself a partner and put together a stage comedy show.
Enjoy the video.

Look What I Made

Here are the first of some pictures of the dress on a real live person.
I'm afraid that I only have my camera phone, but I was lucky enough to be able to talk with the photographer that was at the event.
He took some pictures of the model in the dress for me and hopefully I'll be getting them from him in a few days.

My First Balloon Dress

So, I finished the dress for the fashion show tonight.
Here are some pictures of it.
I also made a hat, handbag, and bracelet for the model to wear.
I'll post some pictures of the outfit on the model after I get home.
I'm going straight from this charity event in Hudson to another charity event in Kent.
There is a relay for life happening on campus from 10AM Saturday till 10AM Sunday trying to raise money for cancer.
If you're up for walking in what I'm hearing will be rather inclement weather, please stop by.
I'll be making balloons and entertaining the people as they finish their shifts.

Busy week

This week has been crazy. Had to deal with some stressful car issues... and have begun the hunt for the new vehicle to get me to class and shows.
This Saturday I will be showing the balloon dress I designed for the Charity event in Hudson.
I will take pictures durring the building process, and perhaps some video as well to post on the YouTube Page.
I'm thinking that If I can free up some time, I may try to make a second dress for display as well.
We'll see how things progress for the rest of the week.
Tonight is Kids Night in Hudson, and then I'm going to try to make it to the Akron Magical Arts Society Meeting after.

It must be a sign.

Imagine my delight to see this when I arrived for my Wednesday night Kids Night. Donato's Pizza in Hudson had a sign made to advertise the evenings I'm there entertaining.
I have been entertaining there every Wednesday for over 9 months now, these guys really know how to make someone feel welcome.
